The relationship between depression, healthy lifestyle behaviors and internet addiction: a cross-sectional study of the athlete university students in Turkey

Introduction Mental health research exists for university students in the areas of prevalence and association depression, internet addiction healthy lifestyle behaviors. However, studies examining rates these relationships athlete are needed. This study aimed to evaluate relationship between behaviors among Turkey. Methods A cross-sectional design was conducted, measuring depression using Center Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, (HPLP-II), (YIAT-SF). Predictive factors associated with depressive symptoms were estimated binary logistic regression. Results Of 501 participants, 61.3% male, a mean age 21.45 years (SD: 3.19). Student-athletes at risk (76.4%), (34.4%) had moderate (130.41 ± 22.93). No significant differences found age, smoking, time spent on social network, number sports days, networks use ( p > 0.05), however by sex living family status < 0.05).
